A Federal High Court successful Lagos, connected Tuesday, sentenced a 40-year-old man, Noah Oke, to 3 years imprisonment for amerciable possession of Cannabis sativa.
The court, however, gave him an enactment of 1 cardinal naira fine.
He was prosecuted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.
The suspect was arraigned earlier Justice Lewis Allagoa connected a one-count complaint of cause trafficking and helium pleaded guilty.
After his plea, the tribunal reviewed the facts of the lawsuit with counsel to NDLEA)l, Mr Aondofa Korinjo, tendering exhibits which were admitted by the court.
Korinjo past urged the tribunal to convict the suspect based connected his plea and grounds adduced by prosecution.
The justice recovered the suspect blameworthy arsenic charged and sentenced him.
According to the charge, the convict committed the discourtesy connected August 21, astatine the Seme country of Lagos State.
NDLEA said that helium illegally possessed a kilogram of Cannabis sativa, a restricted cause successful contravention of Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act of 2004. .
