Ekiti: Two men remanded in prison for fraud, offering bribe to police

An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of 2 persons, Kayode Seun and Godwin Festus, astatine the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti, for conspiracy, fraud, cyber transgression and bribing constabulary officers.

The suspects were accused of being successful possession of 1 Mercedez Benz CLA car suspected to person been stolen and offering of bribe of N485,000 to policemen connected 22nd of April, 2024, astatine Ikere Ekiti.

According to the charge, the offences are punishable nether sections 8 and 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud Act 2006, sections 13 and 14 of the Cyber Crime Act, 2015 and Section 430 and 98A (b) of the Criminal Code Act, Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

The complaint was work and explained to the defendants but their pleas were not taken.

Earlier, the Police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi prayed the tribunal to remand the defendants successful the Nigerian Correctional Centre, pending the issuance of ineligible proposal from bureau of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Counsel to the defendants, Iyanu Olumuagun, who had earlier stood for the defendants, nevertheless withdrew her quality for unspecified reasons.
