Air Peace Chairman Urges Concrete Action On Aviation Security At High-Level Symposium

Chairman of Air Peace Airline Limited, Dr. Allen Onyema, has called on stakeholders in Nigeria’s aviation industry to move beyond rhetoric and commit to practical actions that will strengthen the country’s aviation security architecture.

Speaking at the High-Level Symposium on the Fundamentality of Aviation Security in Achieving the Safe-Skies Goal held on Tuesday, Onyema described aviation security as the industry’s “lifeblood” and urged stakeholders to ensure the gathering did not end up as “another talkshop.”

He commended the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for convening the event and for its continued efforts in regulation and oversight, describing the symposium’s theme as both timely and urgent.

With the growing complexity of global threats—including cyberattacks, insider threats and terrorism—Dr. Onyema stressed the need for Nigeria to constantly rethink and reinforce its aviation security measures.

“No one agency or operator can do it alone,” he said. “Airlines, airport authorities, security agencies, regulators, and private sector partners must work in concert.”

He noted that Air Peace has exemplified this collaborative model by investing in advanced security technologies, continuous personnel training, and strategic partnerships aimed at bolstering aviation safety.

However, Onyema warned that security goes beyond the deployment of tools and procedures, insisting that mindset and vigilance are equally vital. He called for intelligence-sharing, strict compliance, and a culture of proactive security consciousness across all levels of the industry.

He further urged participants to embrace the symposium as a starting point for tangible reforms.

“Let us share best practices, raise hard questions, and commit to actionable outcomes,” he said.

Onyema reaffirmed Air Peace’s commitment to excellence and partnership in promoting aviation security, insisting that the safety of passengers and the future of the sector must remain the highest priority.
